Investing in Your Own Health

A good chair can make a world of difference.

As of today, a large portion of American citizens have received their $1,400 stimulus check from the IRS. Now, I don’t think anyone’s going to disagree with me about how cool free money is, but the most important question is what exactly you’re going to do with it. If the pandemic has adversely affected your income, that money should definitely go toward keeping your books balanced. Pay off those bills, cut down your debt, and so on. However, if you’re doing okay for yourself and the money is just gravy, consider utilizing it toward improving your living situation.

As most of us have spent the past year confined to our homes, we’ve no doubt become intimately familiar with our various appliances and furniture pieces. I, for one, have become quite familiar with the various lumps and bumps of my old computer chair. Bad seating situations can be harmful toward your spine and lower body, so if you’ve got an uncomfortable chair, perhaps it’s time to invest in something a little more comfy and ergonomic.

What about in the kitchen? If you’ve been doing all your own cooking, first of all, good for you. But secondly, perhaps you could use that money to get some new gear to aid you in your pursuit of quality nutrition. A good blender is an excellent investment, as making smoothies can help you to increase your intake of fruits and vegetables. You could also just replace any rusty pots and pans you’re using, just to make them a little safer.

How about the air in your home? Allergy season is right around the corner, after all. Perhaps an air purifier would make working from home a little more bearable? Or what about your drinking water? You could get an attachable filter for your kitchen sink or a filter pitcher to get easier access to clean drinking water (even if buying new filters is kind of a pain).

As I said, that money should go toward your needs first and foremost. When the needs are taken care of, then you can start indulging your wants.
