Upon sensing the onset of a headache, locate a dim, tranquil space to relax in. Avoid excessive stimulation, whether visual or auditory. Obtain a medical cold/hot pack and refrigerate or heat it based on your preference. Personally, I favor wearing a hoodie, taking out my usual cold pack from the freezer, wrapping it in a towel, and putting it on my head while covering with the hood. Comforting and hands-free!
You can also alleviate the discomfort by gently massaging your forehead and temples to enhance blood circulation. Regarding blood flow, you can also enhance it by consuming a mildly caffeinated beverage. Opt for a light tea instead of coffee or energy drinks. Consume just a small amount to boost those synapses; excessive intake may lead to a caffeine-induced headache in addition to the existing one.
If the pain escalates significantly, take a basic over-the-counter pain reliever such as Aspirin, Tylenol, or Advil. Adhere to the instructions on the packaging and avoid exceeding the recommended dosage to prevent adverse effects. If the headache persists despite treatment and is accompanied by symptoms like vertigo, disorientation, or fever, it might indicate a more severe issue, so consult your physician.
