Personally, I find it hard to fully enjoy my meal without the assistance of condiments. Perhaps this reflects poorly on me, but I challenge you to argue that mustard isn’t amazing. However, the issue with most commercial condiments lies in their abundance of chemicals and artificial sweeteners. The reason why ketchup is so widely favored around the world is due to the high levels of added sugar in most store-bought bottles. The logical solution would be to craft your own condiments, yet this can be quite costly and time-consuming. A more practical approach would be to opt for healthier alternatives of your preferred condiments. You may discover that there are numerous natural condiments available in stores that offer a nearly identical, or even superior taste.

When it comes to ketchup, consider purchasing organic varieties without additional sugar. Personally, I prefer unsweetened ketchup over the regular kind; it boasts a pleasantly tangy flavor that I find irresistible. By reducing the use of chemicals, you are able to reclaim some of the health advantages provided by tomatoes, such as antioxidants.

Speaking of renowned condiments, if you’re a fan of mustard, go for the spicy brown variant. Spicy brown mustard contains a higher concentration of real mustard seeds, which can be beneficial for your metabolism.

Indeed, spicy foods are generally beneficial for your health. Ingredients like horseradish and sriracha contain potent antioxidants, and the spiciness can be advantageous for your respiratory system. Just remember not to go overboard with the heat, especially if you suffer from acid reflux.

Nevertheless, the undisputed champion among natural condiments would have to be pesto. The garlic and basil present in pesto offer antimicrobial properties that can support your microbiome, alongside, you’ve got it, antioxidants. Although pesto is better when prepared from scratch, if you’re cooking for only a few people, it might be more cost-effective to purchase a small jar. Most store-bought pestos are relatively light on additives, so they should be acceptable.
