Their core is tough, yet enriched with valuable nutrients!

During my childhood, being a selective eater, I often avoided foods containing a solid component within. The prime examples of such foods were fruits that had pits. My preference was to consume items without dealing with anything hidden inside. However, as I discovered later on, I was overlooking a great deal. Fruits with pits, or commonly called “stony fruits,” might have a sturdy interior, but the surrounding flesh is a treasure trove of natural goodness.

A stony fruit, scientifically referred to as a “drupe,” encompasses any fruit variety housing a hard object at its core, such as a pit. This category includes fruits like peaches, mangoes, apricots, cherries, and plums. These fruits are usually available seasonally, meaning their freshness may not be constant, but when they are in their prime, the pulp surrounding the pit is velvety and incredibly sweet. Just like most natural fruits, stony fruits are overflowing with essential vitamins and heart-protective antioxidants. The synergy between these antioxidants and a generous amount of vitamin C transforms stony fruits into natural shields against diseases, empowering your immune system with the necessary weaponry.

Moreover, stony fruits work wonders for your skin, thanks to their unique blend of vitamins that also stimulate collagen production. This explains why ingredients like apricots and peaches are commonly found in commercial skincare products, maintaining the radiance and health of your skin and hair. Peaches and plums, rich in potassium, aid in regulating high blood pressure, apart from their delightful taste.

Regarding their taste, the delightful flavor of most stony fruits makes them ideal for direct consumption, while they also serve as excellent additions to smoothies and juices when you’re on the go.
