To maintain composure and use logical reasoning is crucial.

The emergence of a new illness spreading worldwide, especially the coronavirus, can be quite intimidating. With the incessant coverage of COVID-19, also known as the coronavirus, it may seem like a state of pandemonium is prevailing. However, amidst these circumstances, it is important to maintain a sensible demeanor and remain grounded in reality. In case you contract COVID-19, here’s what you can anticipate.

The severity of a COVID-19 infection is influenced more by the individual’s characteristics than the virus itself. Factors such as age, overall well-being, immune system strength, and existing health conditions all come into play. For a person in good health within the age range of 10 to 39, the likelihood of mortality is almost negligible. It’s around 1%, at most. The risk slightly increases for individuals aged 40 to 69, but it remains below 5%. The highest risk comes for those aged 70 to 80+, where the fatality rate ranges from about 7% to 15%, contingent upon their overall health status.

For an individual in average health, the symptoms of the coronavirus are similar to a severe cold. You may experience coughing, breathing difficulties, and possibly a fever, but it is not incapacitating. In comparison, bronchitis is more severe. However, if you have a compromised immune system or preexisting respiratory issues, COVID-19 can lead to pneumonia, which can be fatal. This explains why most of the deaths have been older individuals with weaker immune systems. Nevertheless, the majority of individuals need not be overly concerned about succumbing to COVID-19, whether or not they are infected.

It is essential to remain vigilant for the well-being of everyone. Maintain regular handwashing and sanitization practices, cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing, and employ preventive measures typically used to ward off colds. Additionally, according to a recent update from the surgeon general, refraining from using face masks is advised. These masks are more urgently required by medical professionals than the general public and do not provide significant benefits to the latter.

Therefore, to summarize, the likelihood of succumbing to the coronavirus is quite low. By practicing good hygiene and maintaining health, we will collectively overcome this situation smoothly.
